Hello, my name is Heather and I am going to share with you my honest to goodness journey to the SoJo Half Marathon.
I am a beginner and have been officially running for 17 weeks. I have always *hated* running. When I was in Jr High School, my teacher was the 9th grade football coach and he was run happy. He made us run a mile every day in P.E. and I hated it, so I received a ‘D’ every quarter that year. I remember my dad getting mad and yelling “HOW DOES SOMEONE GET A ‘D’ IN P.E.?!?!” (He was very frustrated!)
A few months ago, my husband and I were out to eat and he made a commitment to me that if I would do a race, he would train for & complete a 10k, some triathlons, and a half marathon. I was very apprehensive that I would survive my end of the bargain, but I weighed the benefits and decided to take on for the team. I trained faithfully and completed my first 10k in July. I am now training for the SoJo Half, a far cry from the P.E. days of my youth! Happy (I hope) training!
